More Than Just Uniforms

From a single stitch to a global name in hospitality, BonChef has always stood for more than clothing. We set out to create chef wear that works Today, we're proud to supply hospitality teams around the world with uniforms designed for those who give their all, day in and day out.

Uniforms With Purpose. Service With Heart.

We’re Redefining What Uniforms Can Stand For

Designing high-quality workwear is only part of our mission. At BonChef, we’re building a brand that reflects the values of the modern hospitality industry — where safety, sustainability, and accessibility matter just as much as style. From responsibly sourced fabrics to fair pricing for students and young professionals, every decision we make is grounded in care — for our customers, for the planet, and for the future of the industry. We don’t just follow standards; we set new ones — crafting uniforms with purpose, and service with heart.

The BonChef Standard

At BonChef, we believe uniforms should do more than look the part — they should stand for something

Crafted for Comfort. Designed for Demands.

Built to Last. Priced to Support.

In hospitality, uniforms aren’t just about appearance — they’re essential tools for comfort, protection, and confidence on the job. That’s why every BonChef garment is designed with the realities of high-pressure environments in mind.

From breathable, durable fabrics to reinforced stitching and ergonomic cuts, we engineer clothing that supports movement, safety, and all-day wearability. Whether you’re on the grill or managing front-of-house, we believe your uniform should work as hard as you do — with zero compromises.

Everyone in hospitality deserves access to uniforms they can trust — no matter where they are in their journey. Whether you’re a student chef, newly hired bartender, or launching your own café, BonChef is here to support your ambition without overcharging for it.

We own our production process, meaning no third-party mark-ups, no unnecessary costs — just honest pricing for garments built to last. It also gives us the flexibility to maintain quality without compromise, even at entry-level price points.

By keeping margins fair and our offering inclusive, we’re helping equip the next generation of talent — because accessibility is about more than affordability. It’s about showing up for those who are building their future in this industry.

Real People. Real Support.

Sustainable by Design. Responsible by Nature.

We don’t treat sustainability as a trend — it’s a responsibility. At BonChef, we take a 360° approach to reducing our environmental footprint across every stage of production and delivery.

That starts with materials: we prioritise responsibly sourced fabrics and actively reduce waste in the manufacturing process. We ship orders plastic-free and use recyclable packaging — because we know small changes add up. And with our One Order = One Tree Planted initiative, every purchase you make helps reforest the planet.

We’re not perfect — but we’re always improving. That’s why we’re investing in more sustainable blends, cutting water use, and making our supply chain more transparent.

At BonChef, customer service isn’t a box we tick — it’s a commitment we live by. Whether you’re ordering your first chef jacket or kitting out an entire team, we treat every customer with the same level of care, attention, and respect.

From expert sizing advice to fast response times and reliable aftercare, we’re here to help — not just before purchase, but long after your order lands. And because we understand the time pressures of the hospitality industry, we keep things simple: easy ordering, clear communication, and a team that actually listens.

This isn’t service by script. It’s real support, from people who care about your craft as much as you do.

A Look Behind the Pass: The Story So Far

From our humble beginnings in 1979 to a trusted name in the hospitality industry, we understand what it takes to serve.

1979

Founded as Hayes Catering

Our story began in the town of Hayes, West London, where Hayes Catering was established to supply kitchen tools and essentials to local foodservice businesses. Built on family values, practical knowledge, and a hands-on approach, the business quickly became a trusted name for reliability in the hospitality sector.

1990

Launch of Chef Uniforms

As demand grew beyond equipment, we saw a gap in the market for durable, well-designed chef wear. So, we created our very first chef jacket — tailored for busy kitchens and long hours, with an emphasis on comfort, protection, and wearability. It marked the beginning of our shift from simply supplying tools to supporting the people behind the pass.

2005

BonChef is Born

To meet the rising demand for hospitality workwear, BonChef launched as a dedicated uniform brand — the sister company to Hayes Catering. With a sharper focus on garment design and customer care, BonChef became known for high-quality uniforms built for the real-world pressures of kitchens, bars, and front-of-house roles.

2014

Relocation to Reading

As our customer base expanded, so did our operations. We moved from our original base in Hayes to a larger, purpose-built facility in Reading. This gave us the space and scale to manage more stock, increase production, and continue delivering the same reliable service — now with greater efficiency and room to grow.

2020

COVID & Industry Shutdown

The COVID-19 pandemic hit hospitality hard. Like our customers, we faced uncertainty — but we remained committed to supporting the industry in any way we could. From adapting our service to offering flexibility in tough times, we stayed focused on the people who kept things going behind the scenes. This period also gave us time to reflect, rebuild, and prepare for a stronger, smarter future.

2025

A New Chapter Begins

We’ve launched our new webstore and are doubling down on what matters most: reliable quality, sustainable design, and accessible pricing. With updated ranges, smarter fabrics, and new initiatives in the pipeline, we’re investing in innovation to better serve the chefs, bar teams, and hospitality pros of today — and tomorrow.

Looking Forward: Supporting the Next Generation

Progress That Puts People and Planet First

Sustainability isn’t a statement — it’s a commitment we act on daily. We use recyclable packaging, ship plastic-free, and plant a tree for every order placed. But more importantly, we design with longevity in mind: fewer replacements, less waste, and a reduced environmental footprint over time.

We're investing in new materials, refining our processes, and working toward more transparent sourcing — because we believe responsible production shouldn’t be the exception in our industry. It should be the rule.

Made to Withstand the Pace of Hospitality

In hospitality, garments aren’t just worn — they’re worked in. That’s why our uniforms are built to meet the demands of the job, not just the look. We carefully select high-performance fabrics, design for movement, and prioritise durability where it matters most — so you can focus on the service, not your stitching.

Our control over the entire production process means we can guarantee consistency, accountability, and standards that meet the expectations of hospitality professionals — from the first shift to the thousandth.

The next generation of hospitality professionals deserves more than basic kit — they deserve uniforms that reflect the standards they’re being trained to uphold. At BonChef, we’re proud to support students, apprentices, and emerging talent with access to reliable, affordable, professional-grade workwear that’s ready for real kitchens and front-of-house floors.

We know the journey into hospitality isn’t always easy. That’s why we keep our prices fair, our sizes inclusive, and our quality consistent — to give newcomers the tools they need to succeed. Whether you’re stepping into the kitchen for the first time or building your team from the ground up, we’re here to back your ambition with clothing that works as hard as you do.
